Li River Photos: Summer Cruise Down the River Li To Yangshuo.

To get to the Li River the members of the tour group were collected from their hotel and made their journey to the Li river by luxury air-conditioned coach. Much needed in the humid air of a hot summer's day.
The coaches had to weave their way between completed parts of a new road; parts which had been almost completed; large piles of foundation rubble; lorry loads of stones being delivered and of course the workers with their barrows and shovels. On the journey to the Li River we had the opportunity to see people at work, from a very good vantage point, without feeling intrusive!

On our journey down the Li River we saw the occasional farm house and buildings on the Li River bank. We saw trained comorants of fishermen perched on their masters' boats moored in a Li River bay. As we neared Yangshuo, there was a change in bank activities. Where the bank sloped gently to the water's edge, a partly built boat could be seen.
The Li River quay was a hub of activity when we arrived. We walked past the many stalls and the taxi, and hotel 'agents' up steps to the town. A Chinese man with a tethered eagle on a perch was on the Quay and Jun paid him a few cents so that I could take a photograph of the eagle, bred or captured, with its Chinese keeper.
