Chinese Characters On Dalian Rock in Tiger Park
Dalian Tiger Park, sometimes called "Tiger Beach", would probably have been quite crowded had the weather been much warmer, not very helpful when you want to take photographs, so I was selfish enough to be glad of a sunny but cold day. I was not the only one with camera in hand. There is something magical to the Chinese people, about Chinese characters inscribed on rocks and they like to have them included in their photographs, just like this Dalian gentleman on the rocky headland. Children, on the other hand, preferred to have their photographs taken sitting on the Dalian Tiger Models!
Hasty Retreat From Roadside Cave In Dalian
The road to town seemed a fairly new one and the side bank unfinished, with a few niches and small caves. I went to investigate one such Dalian cave which looked fairly deep and interesting but having taken only a few steps into the entrance, beat a hasty retreat; this Dalian cave seemed to have been regularly used as an emergency toilet. I will leave the rest to your imagination.
Dalian Cable Car Across Bay To Chirping Birds Forest
Leaving the harbor wall and the Dalian headland, we walked along the lower road back to the town and passed an unsafe-looking rowing boat being repaired near the water's edge. It looked like a Dalian fisherman's boat rather than a tourist boat, but it still could have been used to cross the bay, instead of by cable car from the station on the cliff; not operating at the time of our visit. I think I would have chosen the cable car for the journey, which would have taken us to the, "Chirping Birds Forest", although it is doubtful whether there would have been many "birds chirping" at that time of the year.

A Selection from Robert's Wild Cards
| The start of these personal webpages and the Vietnam pictures, followed a chance meeting with a young man named Hoang in 1979. Hoang was one of the "Boat People" from Vietnam who arrived in the UK. In due course I was given the responsibility of teaching him some English. A few weeks later I met his family and friends, and subsequently their families and friends, and friends and families, of friends and families.... and so it was that the ideas for the personal webpages began. |

| Browse through the many China pics on the personal webpages and enjoy again a meal of Peking Duck with pancakes at the Qian Men Restaurant in Beijing. See what happens to the floor of a Ming Dynasty Hall after Buddhist Monks have stamped their feet for hundreds of years, as shown in the China pics from the Shaolin temple on the personal webpages of Robert. |
