China Mystery Tour One - - Dash To Dalian
Dalian, on a peninsular in North-East China was my furthest destination East, and as our 'plane from Beijing approached over the sea, we had good views of the Dalian harbor and wharves with many large ships at anchor. It looked quite attractive and pleasant in the bright sunshine, but as soon as we stepped off the 'plane, the bitterly cold wind seemed to cut through us like a knife, so we just hopped into the first available taxi to take us to the comfort of our hotel !
It was of course in the month of February, during the time of the "Spring Festival", or "Chinese New Year", so at almost all hours of the Dalian day and night, the sound of firecrackers could be heard in the city.
Clicking the picture will take you to a larger copy which will open in a new window, and closing the window will bring you back here.

The large multi-faceted glass globe in the Dalian city square was such a spectacular sight at ground level, that I was determined to get a photo from the top floor of the hotel, but could not open the window, so if there is some distortion in the picture, you will know the reason why !

There are many sites of interest in Dalian. One day we decided to visit a small cove some distance from the hotel, but on arrival found it somewhat deserted, so did not even get out of the taxi but returned to the city. The trees in the Workers' Park at Dalian were festooned with bunting and lanterns for the Spring Festival. The children in Dalian were well catered for with models of different animals !
