Son and Grandson of Chinese Farmer at front of Farmhouse.
Farmer's son attends to the needs of his nephew who has decided it was time for him to eat his orange if he could separate the segments !
Within two generations, the child of the nephew's child is unlikely to have any Chinese uncles or Chinese aunties to segment oranges, as a result of the one-child-per-family-policy now in force in the country, although there is some relaxation of the policy in the countryside and for Chinese minority groups.
Group Photograph of Extended Family of Chinese Farmer.
Chinese farmer with his extended family. It is only when I was preparing this photo for the page that I noticed that the men and grandson are on one side and the women on the other, so I must find out whether that arrangement was by accident or design. There are many Chinese customs which are still unknown to me after all these years of friendship !
Local Children Near Chinese Farm Watch Departing Visitors.
Having said our goodbyes to Yin's family, we walked down a rutted dirt track to get back to our car and I took a grab-shot photo of this group of Chinese young boys as I passed. It is not unusual to see groups of Chinese boys together as they have a much freer time in their young lives than their sisters, who are expected to help with the household chores or to care for younger children.
Chinese Farmers Sell Their Produce At The Side of Road.
There was no hot sun shining at the time of this photograph, as it was taken before a drive over mountains and into the countryside to visit Yin's home. We had been to a Chinese restaurant to have lunch, being closely observed by young Chinese children standing by the open street door. During our lunch Yin's school headmaster brought some homemade steamed dumplings which his wife had prepared for us, and to tell me that I was the first Western visitor to the town, so then I knew why the children were so curious !
