Traders from Beijing come here to buy some of their stock, so prices for the tourists are very much lower than they would find on street stalls in the major Chinese cities. Besides the vases and stools shown in the picture, the street stalls sold Chinese swords, musical instruments, Chinese tea pots in a variety of designs, Chinese paintings and many other items to tempt you to get out your credit card !

If something needs repairing, then you can be sure that you will find someone on the street stalls in China, who will do the work for you. Most of the pavement workshops are for the repair of bicycles or punctures. Some will sharpen knives or scissors. There are even barbers to trim your hair.

Market Street Stall Near Hotel, Beijing
Every day we were at the Hadamen Hotel we would pay a visit to this market and street stalls to buy fresh fruit. On one visit, a sad looking young man was holding a few long strings of garlic, but I don't know for how long he had been there. I had a mind to buy them all and sell them back to him at half price, but he would probably have thought I was crazy !
