Fantasy Dragon Stories of Dreams of Joshua the Five-Clawed Dragon.
Joshua was always dreaming about dragons and always wanted to be a Chinese dragon with five claws; a type of dragon that could only be owned by Emperors of China. Joshua was very strong, intelligent and often made vital decisions to save himself and his friend Lucas.
He thought,
being a dragon would make him better at driving things such as horses and carts, for he knew the rules of the road and how to handle many hazardous events.
In his dreams, his friend Lucas was just an ordinary dragon, he barely ate food rich in carbohydrates and protein but preferred to munch on things such as sugar coated fruit or toffee smothered bread. Lucas the dragon had little intelligence and often roared as a result of this, either because he felt dumb or hurt himself due to his foolish actions.
Joshua and his friend Lucas often went adventuring, climbing trees and making fires. On one of Joshua's dreams they came across a dark dragon cave surrounded by trees and numerous traps. They could tell it was a dragon's cave because outside there were a lot of bones of dead animals. Joshua decided that he and Lucas should enter the cave, but would first need to equip themselves with torches and long sticks in case the dragon caused them trouble. Lucas quickly suggested that they should just run over to the cave unarmed and have a picnic, but Joshua shrugged away his remark and told him not to be such a fool.
Once the pair were ready to enter the cave, Joshua, being such a strong and courageous fellow volunteered to go first. As he entered the cave he saw that there was a small coal fire against one of the walls of the dragon cave, they continued cautiously. All of a sudden a loud cough was heard and followed by a blast of hot air from the mouth of the dragon. As the two walked further into the dark lair Joshua caught a glimpse of the long slithering tail of the dragon, followed by two gigantic feet with four claws. They decided enough was enough and retreated.
As they were passing the coal fire they suddenly felt another blast of the dragon's hot breath; the two turned, only to find a gigantic dragon glaring down at them. Lucas dropped his torch and scampered out, but Joshua stood his ground and waited to see what would be the dragon’s next move.
The dragon looked tired and walked with a limp, but still was a fierce match for the brave adventurer. Suddenly the dragon turned and picked up what seemed to be a feather, he handed it to Joshua and nodded his head towards the dusty fire place in the dragon's den. Joshua couldn’t believe his eyes, did this ferocious dragon really want him to clean his cave? However he agreed to clean for the dragon and lived happily ever after, although Lucas never showed up back at the cave again!

Wild Card
| On a visit to a Farmer's Market near the Temple of Heaven we saw this bearded man who had arrived on a bike almost as old as his 87 years. Adding his image to the pictures of old people in Beijing was no problem, but he requested that copies be sent to him. It was difficult to assess his true age, not that it mattered, for old people of whatever age are well respected in China. |
