Changsha Lorry Mounts Steps With Aid Of Bricks
**

At the top of a series of shallow steps were two metal chairs bedecked with silk artificial flowers. You could sit on a chair and have your photograph taken, for a small fee, with the memorial buildings as a backdrop. For the lorry shown in the picture to get up the steps, two rows of red bricks had been laid on the treads.

Flower Beds In Changsha Park Free Of Weeds
From the Memorial Building there is this walkway down to the man made lake, with its two bridges.
At the bottom landing there were quite large beds of flowers in shades of red and yellow, for which thousands of plants must have been used, and it made a very impressive display; there was not a single weed in sight.

Contrast Of Chinese Bridges In Changsha Park
There are many bridges in China serving a useful purpose such as the bridge over the Yangtze river in Nanjing or the Friendship Bridge in Dalian but there are others more typically Chinese, and in the man-made lake in Changsha were two different types. A Moon Bridge and a wooden bridge having an ornamental roof with upturned eaves. A similar bridge can be seen at Nanning.

"Heavenly Goose" Pedal Boats At Lake In Changsha
Although the Martyrs' Park is a memorial it also provides leisure facilities such as a children's fun park and a boating lake. You can hire a "Swan Boat" or eight seater rowing boats.
Trung once told me that the Swan is called "Heavenly Goose" in Chinese; an appropriate name for such a graceful bird.
