From time to time China stamps are issued in a commemorative album, for presentation purposes, and the Chinese stamps presented on this web page are from such an album. This particular China stamp album was a Special And Commemorative Stamp Album Issued In 1990 by the People's Republic Of China. The subjects presented as illustrations on the Chinese stamps are varied, from scenes of Mount Hengshan, to stadia and sports for the Beijing Asian Games on the stamp issue of 1989. No doubt, a China stamp album to commemorate the Beijing Olympic Games of 2008 will be issued in due course.
On the China stamps are pictures of scenes from the classic story, 'The Three Kingdoms' a story as well known and enjoyed as that of, The 'Dream Of Red Mansions', although the stamps of that story are not included in the album.
Historic images are shown on the China Stamps J.168 of Li Fuchun which were issued in 1990 for the 90th anniversary of his birth.

From the mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang there are pictures of a Chinese Warrior's head and of a horse's head.
Many of the postage stamps of China were collectable issues valued by stamp collectors in many parts of the country. On one visit to the post office in Nanning we had to weave our way to the entrance through the stamp dealers sitting on the steps. Perhaps a recognised location for anyone looking for a particular China stamp to add to their collection.
The buying and selling of collectable China Stamps can often be seen on the pavements outside post offices in the cities. Inevitably, the use of mobile phones, text messages, faxes, internet emails, will reduce the demand for postage stamps, in all developed countries. Perhaps one day, the special China stamps recently issued, will become as famous, as scarce and as valuable as the UK's '''''Penny Black'''''

''''' The unified administration issued its first postage stamps on 8 October 1949, consisting of a set of four depicting a lantern and the Gate of Heavenly Peace, commemorating the 1st session of the Chinese People's Consultative Political Conference. This issue also inaugurated the innovative practice of numbering each type of stamp issued, usually in the lower left corner. For instance, the $800 value in the Dove of Peace issue of 1950 is numbered "5.3-2", indicating that it is the second stamp of three in the fifth stamp issue of the PRC. The practice is only followed for commemorative and special stamps, regular definitive stamps having no special markings. SRC: Wikipedia.com '''''

On a visit to a Farmer's Market near the Temple of Heaven we saw this bearded man who had arrived on a bike almost as old as his 87 years. Adding his image to the pictures of old people in Beijing was no problem, but he requested that copies be sent to him. It was difficult to assess his true age, not that it mattered, for old people of whatever age are well respected in China. |

The Chinese paper cuts included in Robert's wild cards, were distributed by the China National Tourism Administration in the form of a special twelve picture calendar for the year 1999. The work of cutting and mounting all the Chinese Paper cuts was carried out by farmers in the Shanxi Province of China. |
